Rochester is a city located in Monroe, New York. With the advanced infrastructure and technological advancements, the metropolitan city Rochester has become the major attractions for the people. The traditions and the cultural aspects are greatly focused in Rochester. There are a number of culture institutions in Rochester NY like Gath Fagan Dance, George Eastman House International, Memorial Art Gallery, Rochester Museum & Science Center and various other art organizations.Interestingly, Geva Theater Center is the largest professional theater of Rochester NY. One of the major attractions of Rochester NY is its nightlife. There are many nightspots in the southeast, the East End District. The nightclubs are crowded with the people especially on weekends. No, doubt the beauty of the city is enhanced by the park lands. Some of the most famous park lands are Highland Park, Cobb's Hill Park, Maplewood Park, Seneca Park and Ontario Beach Park. The excitements of the city are not stopped there but there are 13 full time recreation centers and 19 swimming programs in Rochester NY.
The three artificial ice rinks are very popular in the city. Various sports activities are organized in the city and there are about 66 softball and baseball fields and 7 tennis courts in the city. In addition, there are five large football grounds, 7 seven soccer ball fields and 43 courts for outdoor basketballs have been created. Rochester NY hosts Lilac Festival therefore; it is also recognized as 'The Flower City'. Lilac festivals are organized every year in May in Rochester NY. About 400 varieties of Lilac are presented in the festival and near about 10,000 people come on the festival.
Despite the reputation as a metropolitan city, Rochester NY has always promoted the local culture. About twenty miles southwest of Rochester, there is a Genesee Country Village and Museum. The best thing about this village is that it preserves the local architecture and other old traditions like carriage museums. In addition to the preservation of the cultural values, festivals are also organized in the city. Some of the famous festivals celebrated in Rochester NY are Jazz Festival, Com Hill Festival, Clothesline art festivals, Lilac Festival and many others. The Rochester NY accent is a form of Inland Northern American English. This accent resembles the accent of Chicago or Detroit. As 55% of the population of Rochester comprise of blacks therefore, the accent of the native Rochesterians has been changed.
